Read & Ride Winners

Estabrook & Chamberlain partnered with the West Bridgewater public library again this year to sponsor the 2019 Summer Reading Program. As in past years, the program’s intent is to help kids expand their knowledge and horizons through reading. The Read & Ride program also offers young readers the chance to win a new bike – just for reading one book over the summer.

This year’s participation was outstanding once again and we’re proud to announce the winners.

Parents are urged tell their kids about the program and get them involved. It’s fun and rewarding, so be sure to stop by the West Bridgewater Public Library and sign up today.

Registration forms may also be obtained at our office – 45 Main Street in Bridgewater.

* Previous winners are not eligible.

Local Celebrity

Some people may know that Don Prohovich, who resides in Bridgewater, was a notable athlete as a young man. He played AAA minor league baseball as a shortstop for the Chicago White Sox organization. His pathway to the major leagues was blocked by Hall of Fame shortstop Luis Aparicio.

Don also excelled in basketball. He played for Holy Cross alongside teammate and Hall of Famer, Tom Heinsohn of the Boston Celtics. Don graciously presented our office with a picture of him and Heinsohn in the 1955 Madison Square Garden Holiday Tournament. Come by and see the picture of Don and Tom Heinsohn with Bill Russell providing the opposition.

April Showers Bring May Flowers … and Floods!

Spring rains and snow melt can pose a threat to homeowners. For many in Massachusetts, this may not seem like much of a concern, but Massachusetts is in the top 20 states whose properties face a moderate to high risk of flooding.

If you’re unsure if your home lies in a floodplain, or is otherwise at risk, check with us today. We’ll review floodplain info with you and help you review your existing coverage and show you how to best protect yourself and your family in case of a flood.

Community & College

In addition to serving the insurance needs of multiple communities, Estabrook & Chamberlain strives to do more for our neighbors and the people we serve. To this end, we provide three separate scholarships to worthy students in the surrounding communities.

Each year, we provide a college scholarship that’s awarded to 2 high school graduates – one from Bridgewater Raynham Regional High and one from West Bridgewater High. Many years ago, we also established a self-funded scholarship for the business department at Bridgewater State University. Each spring, the scholarships are awarded when the business school chooses two deserving students working toward a degree in management or accounting.

Life is about more than protecting what you have. It’s also about giving back where you live. At Estabrook & Chamberlain, we’re proud to help make a difference in the communities we serve.

E&C Community Involvement

On the evening of Saturday, September 30th, Laurie Hartrey, a local Bridgewater resident, arranged for 50 or so people to stroll from the center of town and visit several historic landmarks which included 3 homes, the Masonic Lodge and an old cemetery. One of the homes visited was the Estabrook & Chamberlain offices. As you may know, our building has ties to Paul Revere.

We served cider to those who visited and explained the connection between Paul Revere and
his family to the building. We also showed the visitors our collection of old Bridgewater photos that we possess and answered questions about the building. If you’re unfamiliar with the history of our building, please ask the next time you stop by.
We’re happy to talk with you about more than just insurance.

Read & Ride!

It’s summer time and that means Read & Ride! Once again, Estabrook & Chamberlain is proud to sponsor the annual Read & Ride program in association with the Bridgewater and West Bridgewater Public Libraries. This year’s theme is “Build a Better World”.

So be sure to stop by the Bridgewater or West Bridgewater Public Library and sign up today. Registration forms may also be obtained at our 45 Main Street office in Bridgewater.
